|Mayor's "State of the City Address" set for November 9, 2010
Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County will again host the annual event
HUNTSVILLE, AL (October 20, 2010)- Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle will give his annual "State of the City Address " on November 9, 2010 at noon in the VBC North Hall. The event is again being hosted by the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County.
The theme of this year's event is "Moving Forward" and will again feature some of the popular changes in format that began with the 2009 address. This year's address will again be told as a narrative, using both live remarks from Mayor Battle and video segments to highlight Huntsville's challenges and successes over the past year and to better tell Huntsville's story.
"We'd like to thank the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County for again hosting the State of the City Address. Last year's event not only had a record attendance, but also reached a record audience," said Mayor Battle.
The 2009 State of the City Address was televised live by WHNT NEWS 19 on WHNT2 and streamed online on both the City of Huntsville's website, HuntsvilleAL.gov, and on WHNT.com. Organizers are working for similar arrangements this year.
"This event again presents a great opportunity for us to update our city on where we've been, where we are and where we're going," said Mayor Battle.
"We've said it previously, but our city has an incredible story - and we want to do the best job we can of telling that story."
Tickets to the event may be purchased by contacting the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County, the event's host. Last year's "State of the City Address" set an attendance record and another full house is expected this year.
Don Nalley, chair of the Chamber of Commerce of Huntsville/Madison County touched on the importance of the event.
"Mayor Battle's State of the City address is a wonderful opportunity for him to address our community about what has been done, but just as importantly what the plans for the future are. We are proud to host the luncheon and excited to be part of another unique and innovative event with the Mayor and the City of Huntsville."
EDITOR'S NOTE: Mayor Battle will be available for a limited period of media time on Thursday, October 21 from 9-10am. Please contact email@example.com to schedule any requested media time.
